The change of Dong Ca Hamlet

TQO - The appearance of Dong Ca Hamlet, Nhan Muc Commune, Ham Yen District, where 106 Tay households live, is gradually changing.

New appearance

Implementing the new rural construction programme of Nhan Muc Commune, Dong Ca Hamlet has deployed projects on construction of public works with the motto "The State and the people work together". Previously, the inter-village road was difficult and bumpy, but now it has been replaced by a 2,000m-length concrete road.

Not only the roads and culture houses of the hamlet have been built spaciously, but the inner fields and canals have been also solidified. In 2017, the hamlet solidified 205 meters of inner-field canals and concreted 570 meters of inner-field roads.

In addition to modern-designed houses, the Tay people in the locality have still preserved ancient stilt houses. Although their lives have changed a lot, many local people prefer to live in stilt houses, because stilt houses are the culture of the Tay people. Therefore, many households in Dong Ca Hamlet keep their traditional stilt houses while only improve them in a modern direction, with an additional left room for kitchen and toilet area. The lower floor is raised higher than the old stilt house to use for many different purposes.

Innovating thinking in business

The major economy in Dong Ca Hamlet is agriculture and forestry in association with husbandry. With choosing plants and animals with comparative advantages, the local people have stable incomes, contributing to poverty reduction.

Not only people who were born and grew up in Dong Ca, but also resettled households from Na Hang have caught up with a new life. They are supported by local authorities in applying science and technology to production and livestock, improving their incomes.

People in Dong Ca are more and more active than before. If the fields is not wet enough to transplant, they grow red dragon fruit. Instead of grazing buffaloes, people develop the fattening buffalo models in combination with growing grass and corn for animal feed.

Currently, the hamlet has over 10 hectares of fruit trees, 300 buffaloes and over 90 hectares of acacia. The poor households in the locality reduced to only 3 households, the number of quite wealthy households is over 50%. It demonstrates that the locals' lives is changing day by day.
