Tuyen Quang resolutely fights against trade fraud, counterfeit, and imitation goods

TQO - Implementing the Prime Minister’s directives on launching a peak campaign to combat smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property rights infringement, Tuyen Quang province has simultaneously deployed inspection and enforcement measures to restore business order across the locality.

Authorities conduct inspections during the peak campaign.

During the campaign, the provincial Market Surveillance Department uncovered and handled numerous cases involving counterfeit goods and products of unclear origin. In Yen Son District, the household business of Nhu Cong Quan was found selling 60 counterfeit Adidas-branded clothing items and illegally copying 129 works. Authorities proposed a fine of VND 41 million and ordered the destruction of all infringing goods.

In Ham Yen District, Nguyen Xuan An’s business sold 83 counterfeit items imitating brands like Adidas, Chanel, and Gucci, with a total value of over VND 31 million, and was fined VND 27.5 million. The most serious case occurred in Tuyen Quang City, where Hoang Son Tung’s household was caught selling 306 counterfeit apparel and footwear products of well-known brands, worth nearly VND 100 million. The household was fined VND 70 million.

These cases underscore the authorities’ strong determination and serve as a wake-up call for small traders. Many vendors at traditional markets such as Chiem Hoa and Tam Co stated that the inspections helped them better understand the importance of transparent sourcing and legal compliance to protect consumer interests and business reputations.

According to Mr. Dao Luong Nhan, Deputy Head of the Provincial Market Surveillance Department, the inspections were targeted and selective, without impacting legitimate businesses. Some shops temporarily closed due to misinformation spread on social media. Authorities affirmed that the campaign does not aim to “crack down on small traders” but only addresses clear legal violations.

From May 16 to June 5, the Market Surveillance Department conducted 37 inspections, detecting 36 violations. Total administrative fines exceeded VND 300 million, and nearly VND 237 million worth of goods - mostly counterfeit or of unknown origin, were ordered destroyed.

Mr. Loc Kim Lien, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said the campaign is being carried out nationwide. The department will continue coordinating with enforcement agencies, market management boards, and local authorities to raise awareness and guide traders in complying with regulations and avoiding the sale of counterfeit or substandard goods.

The campaign not only addresses violations but also helps raise awareness, promote transparent and sustainable trade practices, and reinforce the important role of traditional markets in community life.
