A corner of Lang Can Town.
In November 2020, Lang Can was recognised as a region meeting the criteria of V-grade urban area. In July 2021, Lang Can Town was established according to Resolution No. 1262 of the National Assembly Standing Committee.
Since established, there has been still difficulties and challenges facing Lang Can. However, the town with an energetic and creative spirit has achieved significant marks across a range of political and socio-economic issues, gradually improving the spiritual and material lives for its citizens.
The technical infrastructure system in Lang Can Town was invested to make the town appearance change. In particular, the park was built to contribute to urban beauty and prevent large floods. The total number of investment projects in the area in the 2018-2010 period is 11, with a total cost of over VND236 billion. In 2020, the locality completed the upgrading, expansion and asphalting of the main roads, serving local people's travel needs.
In terms of economy, Lang Can town has focused on choosing plants and animals with comparative advantages towards commodity production in association with tourism development. The town has developed the black pig breeding models in the residential groups of Lang Chua, Ban Ke, Ban Khien, Khau Quang, and Don Ba with the goal of maintaining a herd of over 1,000 piglets each year. In addition, the town has encouraged farmers to grow specialty rice to make green rice flakes, becoming a local tourism product.
Determining the tourism will become an important economic sector of the town, local authorities have implemented specific solutions such as building residential group, restoring the traditional weaving of the Tay ethnic group, building community-based tourism models, etc.
Recently, Lam Binh Brocade Cooperative has been established with nearly 20 members. This is a good opportunity for local people improve their incomes as well as produce beautiful brocade products as souvenirs for tourists.
In the coming time, the local authorities and people will continue to build Lang Can into a highland urban area with its own cultural identity.
