According to the report of the Department of Agriculture, the whole province currently has 103 communes at high risk of landslides. Of which, Ham Yen has 15 communes, Chiem Hoa has 23 communes, Lam Binh has 4 communes, Yen Son has 25 communes, Son Duong has 29 communes, Tuyen Quang city has 7 communes; there are 37 dams with high risk of unsafety; Na Tong village, Thuong Lam commune, Lang Can town (Lam Binh) and Vinh Loc town (Chiem Hoa) are localities at risk of serious landslides if local authorities and functional sectors do not have timely solutions.
Faced with this situation, functional sectors and localities have had timely response plans. Lam Binh District People's Committee has developed detailed scenarios for each situation. In addition to continuously informing and warning the community about natural disasters, the district has requested armed forces to be ready with forces and means 24 out of 7 to support the evacuation of people from dangerous areas. Chiem Hoa District has focused on human resources and machinery to organize the construction of embankments in 2 residential areas at risk of landslides. The Department of Agriculture has also coordinated to move 34 households in dangerous areas to safe places. Other localities have posted signs warning of locations prone to landslides on riverbanks, streams, and slopes for people to be aware of and avoid. At the same time, people are urged to raise their sense of responsibility and vigilance, not to go into the forest on rainy days, not to cut down trees, dig up rocks and soil at the foot of dams, roads, and mountain foothills, ensuring to minimize possible damage.
