Consumer demand is increasing, so almost every year, authorities discover violations such as smuggling and unclear origin of mooncakes. Entering the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, the General Department of Market Management has issued Document No. 2257/TCQLTT-CNV dated August 13, 2024 to the Market Management Departments of provinces and centrally run cities on strengthening market inspection and control during the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2024 and checking the quality of goods until the end of 2024.
In the period before the Mid-Autumn Festival, inspect moon cake production establishments such as the origin of raw materials for moon cake production; the use of food additives, food processing aids, product quality inspection, conditions to ensure food safety in food production, processing, and preservation. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, focus on inspecting business establishments, agents, and stores in complying with legal regulations in the production and trading of moon cakes. After the Mid-Autumn Festival, focus on checking the recall and handling of expired products that do not ensure quality.
Along with the inspection, the authorities will coordinate to disseminate to production and business establishments the provisions of the law on goods trading and ensuring food safety, compliance with regulations on standard declaration, product conformity declaration and regulations on goods quality. At the same time, strictly handle violations and publicly announce the names of violating organizations and individuals on mass media according to the provisions of law.
Consumers should be vigilant, only choose to buy food from reputable and familiar establishments, and should not buy food of unknown origin. Buyers need to pay attention to the information on packaging, product labels, expiry dates, production addresses, and quality declarations. Report violations promptly to the authorities for timely handling when detecting violations, not allowing poor quality products to be smuggled into the market, endangering the health of themselves and the community.
