Recently, at the National Assembly forum, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan proposed to ban electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products to protect the health of people, especially young people. The Ministry of Health has also conducted many large-scale studies on thousands, even tens of thousands of people and provided research results that are scientifically sufficient to conclude that it is not allowed to use new-generation cigarettes. Statistics show that new-generation cigarettes have more than 30,000 mixed substances, of which more than 3,000 are addictive. There is no need to question whether they are harmful or not.
In this situation, to strengthen control and promptly prevent the harmful effects of using electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products, the Prime Minister has issued an Official Dispatch on strengthening the management of electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products.
Accordingly, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to inform, educate and communicate about the harmful effects of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products to units, organizations and individuals under its management, and at the same time research and propose to issue under its authority or submit to competent authorities to issue solutions to manage e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.
Relevant ministries, branches, People's Committees of provinces and cities shall strengthen management, regularly inspect and strictly handle organizations and individuals trading, storing and transporting smuggled e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, etc.
The total ban on e-cigarette and heated tobacco products is in line with the trend of countries in the region and the world as well as the recommendations of the World Health Organization. This is considered one of the preventive measures to help protect people's health from the known harmful effects of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products and prevent the increase among young people.
