Actively respond needed amid heat and drought

TQO - The northern region of Vietnam is in the hottest days on record. In many places, the temperature rises above 40 degrees Celsius at times. The high temperature in early summer is a sign of a year of record heat, the risk of drought and serious water shortage.

In the context of complicated weather, the Prime Minister has directed ministries, agencies and localities to proactively cope with the risk of heat and drought, ensuring enough water for daily life of the people.

Along with that, functional sectors need to calculate and make specific plans to provide water for agricultural production; review the electricity production plan in the context of water shortage in hydropower reservoirs to take the initiative in ensuring electricity supply for production and daily life.

In addition, each citizen needs to equip themselves with skills to protect their health and ensure environmental safety to avoid disease outbreaks. In particular, each organization and individual needs to raise their awareness and responsibility in saving electricity and water, and proactively respond to possible droughts and water shortages.
