With the warm and garish colors such as blue, red, purple, yellow, the H'mong dresses are likened to a unique work of art. It is a harmonious color scheme, abundant and impressive textures, skillfully and gracefully arranged.
The motifs in the costumes of the Mong people are mainly spirals, hearts, squares, rectangles, zigzags and some symbols associated with life such as lightning, working tools, animals, flowers, etc. All are shown through each winding line on the bodice and skirt to convey many wishes. It is people's aspiration to live in harmony with nature, favorable weather, good crops.

In Tuyen Quang Province, there are Blue H'mong, White H'mong, Flower H'mong and Black H'mong ethnic groups. For the costumes of Blue H'mong and White H'mong women, the motifs are prominent on the back, collar, front chest while on the costumes of Black H'mong and Flower H'mong women, decorative motifs are mainly concentrated on two sleeves, bibs and on the skirt. Although choosing different positions, the lines and patterns embroidered on the shirt and skirt still carry the same meaning of the desire for a happy and peaceful life.
