Tuyen Quang’s tea exports recover post Covid-19

TQO - Tea production and export by local enterprises in the province have showed signs of recovery after suffering from the Covid-19 pandemic.

There are four enterprises producing and processing tea for export in Tuyen Quang. In addition to the joint-stock companies, including Song Lo Tea, My Lam Tea and Tan Trao Tea Joint Stock Companies, there is a non-state-owned enterprise, Thanh Long Company Limited in Son Duong District.

During this post-Covid-19 period, local businesses have mainly focused on intensive farming, increasing productivity and replacing old tea fields by growing new varieties with both a high yield and quality. At the same time, they have taken advantage of supports and preferential loans to invest in production lines and technologies in order to increase their products’ competitiveness in the market.

After months of seeking markets to export their tea products to amidst Covid-19, Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company’s export activities have started to increase as orders from established customers have increased again. The volume of tea exported by the end of June reached 1,700 tonnes, an increase of over 15% compared to the same period last year.

Currently, along with the purchasing and processing of fresh bud tea, Thanh Long Co., Ltd. has also prioritised the purchase of dried tea products from other small-sized businesses for deep processing, thus ensuring sufficient export sources as soon as the market unfreezes.
