Reducing the gap in access to education

TQO - Education is the most important key to opening the door to development, not only for individuals but also for communities and countries. However, for students in remote areas, especially ethnic minority students, access to education is still difficult. One of the important solutions to help them overcome these obstacles is the boarding policy for ethnic minority students.

Therefore, the Government has issued Decree No. 66/2025/ND-CP stipulating policies for kindergarten children, students, and trainees in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, coastal and island areas, and educational institutions with kindergarten children and students enjoying the policy. This Decree takes effect from May 1.

The subjects include kindergarten children studying at preschools; ethnic minority boarding students and boarding students studying at general education institutions; boarding students; pre-university students.

Children in boarding kindergartens are supported with lunch money; boarding students and pre-university students are supported with food money, housing money, and rice; ethnic minority boarding students and pre-university students are entitled to policy scholarships, rewards, personal items and school supplies, transportation money, and rice support.

In addition, preschools with children in boarding kindergartens are entitled to financial support policies to buy paper, comics, crayons, pencils, toys, and other learning materials and supplies; blankets, mosquito nets, and personal items for children in boarding kindergartens. Boarding schools for ethnic minorities are invested in facilities and equipment according to Government regulations, and are supported with funds to purchase, supplement, and repair physical education and sports equipment, musical instruments, televisions, and other items serving cultural, artistic, physical education, and sports activities for boarding students, organize annual health check-ups for students, and support electricity and water bills for students' study and daily life.

Decree No. 66/2025/ND-CP of the Government not only helps ethnic minority students access education but also contributes to reducing the gap in learning opportunities between regions.
