Local people in Phia Trang Hamlet, Son Phu Commune, Na Hang District grow shiitake mushrooms, bringing about high economic efficiency.
For a long time, forest shiitake mushrooms are a specialty of the upland areas in Tuyen Quang. Taking advantage of suitable natural conditions, local people in Son Phu Commune have promoted growing shiitake mushrooms to meet the needs of consumers and make them become OCOP products of the commune in the future.
Shiitake mushrooms are grown on more than 50 m3 of wood by more than 30 households in Son Phu commune, mostly in Phia Trang and Na Con hamlets. The output is estimated at over 1 tonne of fresh mushrooms per crop. Each year, there are 4 crops for harvesting shiitake mushrooms.
Son Phu Commune has facilitated shiitake mushroom growing models. The local authorities has mobilised the mushroom growers to establish cooperatives and created favourable conditions for households to introduce their products at agricultural fairs and night markets in Na Hang District. In addition, the commune has also contacted and connected with businesses both inside and outside the province to consume their products.
The shiitake mushroom models in Son Phu Commune has initially brought economic efficiency in line with the needs of the current market, becoming a new direction in the agricultural transformation of the commune's economic structure.
