Lam Binh expands bo khai vegetable growing area

TQO - Bo khai is a vegetable variety that grows naturally in the forest. It is processed into many dishes by the locals in Lam Binh District, becoming a specialty vegetable in the district and attracting a lot of diners.

Mr. Hoang Ngoc Chi in Nam Dip Hamlet, Lang Can Commune, Lam Binh District taking care of his family's bo khai vegetable garden.

Realizing the development potential of bo khai vegetable, the authorities of Lam Binh District has encouraged people to renovate their gardens to plant this vegetable.

In 2016, the district implemented the model of bo khai vegetable growing areas in the communes of Xuan Lap, Lang Can, Khuon Ha, Binh An and Thuong Lam with a total area of 13 hectares. After 5 years, the district has expanded more than 20 hectares of bo khai vegetable cultivation land.

Bo khai vegetable is harvested from February to September of lunar calendar, each crop can be harvested from 80kg -100kg per 1,000m2 with the selling price is estimated at VND40,000 - VND50,000 VND per kg.

Many growers have provided bo khai vegetables for homestay facilities and restaurants across the district in order to need the meet of tourists.

Now, Lam Binh District continues to expand the bo khai vegetable growing areas in order to make this plant become a commodity agricultural product, serving tourism development and bringing many benefits to the local people.
