Athletes compete in Vovinam martial arts for the first time in 2020.
In order to meet the requirements of high-achievement sports development, up to now, the province has built a system of selecting and training high-achieving sports athletes in three routes: The provincial team route (15 athletes), the youth team (8 athletes), the gifted team (30 athletes). The province currently has 35 athletes reaching the level, including 9 athletes reaching the level of grandmasters, 26 athletes reaching the national level 1.
The province focuses on investing in spearhead sports, especially individual fighting sports, including: Wushu, Pencak Silat, Traditional Martial Arts, Vovinam, Kick Boxing, Muay. The province has developed 2 collective sports, including Boat racing and children's football; 3 movement sports, including Athletics, badminton, table tennis, etc. Currently, the province is focusing on training high-achieving athletes in four key sports: Pencak Silat, Wushu, Boat Racing and Wrestling.
Over the years, in order to promote high-performance sports, the province has organized many major tournaments. In only 9 months of 2022, the province successfully organized 10 provincial sports tournaments and hosted 1 national sports tournament. At the same time, the province's high-achieving sports athletes participated in 14 national sports tournaments and won 81 medals at regional and national competitions, including 9 gold medals, 22 silver medals, 50 bronze medals. Particularly at Sea Games 31, athletes from Tuyen Quang Province won 9 medals, of which 6 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal.
