TQO - In recent years, craft villages in rural areas in Tuyen Quang province have made an important contribution to solving local jobs for people, creating income for local people. However, the strong impact of the market economy has caused many difficulties and challenges to traditional industries and craft villages.

People in Tan Cuong village, Tan An commune (Chiem Hoa) preserve the brocade weaving profession.

According to a report by the Department of Rural Development and Quality Management, the province currently has over 25,000 rural craft establishments, of which over 7,000 operate in the field of processing and preserving agricultural, forestry and fishery products; over 14,600 service establishments serving production and rural residents' lives; over 2,900 establishments producing wooden, rattan and bamboo products, the rest are other rural occupations. There have been over 200 products of craft villages and rural industries certified as 3-star and 4-star OCOP products.

Mr. Tran Hai Tuyen, Head of the Department of Rural Development and Quality Management, said that to preserve and develop traditional industries and craft villages, the industry has coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade, districts and cities to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of mechanisms and policies to encourage and support production development, including supporting the development of rural industries and craft villages through projects to support research, transfer and application of new science and technology to increase productivity, product quality, improve economic efficiency and competitiveness in the market.

In the period of 2021 - 2024, from the national and local industrial promotion funds, the province has supported 45 rural industrial establishments in the area to apply advanced machinery and equipment in production with a total budget of VND7.74 billion. Of which, the national industrial promotion supported 14 units with a budget of 4.1 billion VND, local industrial promotion supported 31 units with a budget of VND3.64 billion.

Tan Thuong Tea Cooperative, Luong Thien Commune (Son Duong) was supported with a large-capacity tea roasting machine.

The sector also advised the province to invest in developing rural industries in the direction of diversifying products, associated with the development of experiential tourism, especially focusing on high-quality products with traditional characteristics of the industry; developing forms of production organization suitable to the conditions of each locality, organizing production linkages, and consuming agricultural products according to the value chain, connecting with the direction of organizing farmers to produce large-scale agricultural products, ensuring quality associated with processing and consumption; strongly shifting agricultural labor to the fields of industry, services and rural industries, and craft villages.

Hopefully, with the solutions that have been and are being implemented, rural industries and craft villages will be preserved and developed sustainably, creating economic values for rural people.
