In Vietnam, rice is grown everywhere, especially in the delta regions. In fact, rice production is a leading economic activity. Rice fields stretch from the mountains, plains to plateaus, forming many areas of intensive rice cultivation.
Rice must not only perform a political task to ensure food security for the entire society, but also an economic task, creating conditions for farmers to get rich. Not only does it play a great role in economic and social life, but it also has historical value, because the development history of rice is associated with the development history of the entire Vietnamese nation, leaving its mark in each era.
Each countryside and each ethnic group has different methods of rice cultivation.
Recently, Tuyen Quang was honored to have a heritage recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage: Knowledge and practices of wet rice growing of the Tay people in Lam Binh district.
