Food stalls at the Lo River Boat Racing Festival (Tuyen Quang City) prepare food to ensure food safety to serve the needs of tourists.
According to statistics from the Provincial Steering Committee for Interdisciplinary Inspection of Food Safety and Health, currently, the whole province has over 2,500 food service establishments and nearly 1,500 street food stalls. During the festival days, the number of street food stalls will increase significantly, with a seasonal nature. Largely consumed foods during the festival include: candy, soft drinks, processed foods, ready-to-eat packaged foods, restaurants,etc.
Previously, to raise awareness of consumers and businesses about food hygiene and safety issues, especially during the New Year festivals, authorities in the province organized over 100 live propaganda sessions. for nearly 1,000 people working in restaurants and eateries and people, hanging over 200 banners, slogans, posters, and distributing over 2,000 leaflets to people about knowledge and legal regulations on food safety. Thereby, the awareness of consumers and business establishment owners increases day by day.
According to Mr. Le Xuan Van, Head of the Food Hygiene and Safety Department, Department of Health, festivals in the province begin from January 3. Currently, interdisciplinary inspection teams on food hygiene and safety from the provincial to district and commune levels are inspecting food businesses, especially street food services at spring festivals. Along with that, the delegation also supervised the implementation of three-step food inspection and stored food samples according to regulations... Since the beginning of the year until now, there has not been any food poisoning case in the province. In the coming time, the Health sector will continue to coordinate with inter-sectoral forces to maintain inspections at the festival and resolutely handle violations to ensure health safety for visitors.
