The Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Orphans and philanthropists donated bicycles to poor and disabled students in My Bang commune (Yen Son).
Currently in the province there are over 32,000 disabled people and orphans, accounting for 1.71% of the province's population.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Chairwoman of the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Orphans, said that the Project on health care, living support and livelihood for people with disabilities and orphans have been implemented since 2016. Currently, over 3,000 disabled people and orphans have received wheelchairs and have reached many opportunities to access social services with a total cost of nearly VND5 billion. This is a project with humanitarian significance, creating opportunities for people with disabilities to advance in life and integrate into the community.
The Association has also implemented an inclusive education support program for children with disabilities in Tuyen Quang city. The implementation period is from September 2022 to December 2024, with a budget of VND360 million funded by a non-governmental organization. Non-refundable foreign government funding from Green Cross Switzerland in Vietnam.
Accordingly, every year Green cross Switzerland organization supports VND120 million. The program includes the following activities: organizing 1-3 training classes for parents and students on caring for and protecting children with disabilities; donating school supplies to disabled children at school; Manage and use equipment, teaching aids, and toys for disabled students. In addition, the Club of Parents of Disabled Students in Tuyen Quang City was established to provide knowledge of mental and physical care for children with disabilities.
With their own efforts and the encouragement, help, and care of the entire society, people with disabilities have confidently asserted themselves and found ways to rise up.
