A tourist buys a Mong dress at the market in Hung Loi Commune, Yen Son District.
Sharing the secret to making such charming Hmong dresses, Hoang Thi Mai, in Na Tang Village, Hung Loi Commune shared: The first comes from the love of the H'mong ethnic people for their cultural identity. H'mong women are proud of the beauty in traditional costumes. Most H'mong women know how to embroider, weave, and sew clothes.
She said that Mong Hoa women's costumes are the most sophisticated, especially the dress. Because the H'mong people live in harmony with the nature and nature is also the material for them to create the fabric and embroider the patterns.
Especially, from the age of 7 years old to 8 years old, H’mong girls have been taught to weave, embroider, and sew traditional patterns by their mothers.
Currently, the H'mong community has still kept the traditional costume. They not only wear dress during holidays and New Year but also in daily activities.
