Nom Tay script was created entirely on the basis of Chinese characters. It has become an effective tool for recording. In particular, in the past, Nom Tay was used in all legal documents such as contracts, customs, practices, beliefs, history, geography and works of art.

Nom Tay writing in Tuyen Quang is preserved in ancient books.

Currently, in Tuyen Quang, there are still a lot of traditional Nom Tay texts in folklore, mainly in the homes of shamans, heads of clans, and prestige people.

With the aspiration to preserve Nom Tay script, for many years, folk artists and shamans have opened classes to teach Nom Tay for free. In addition, members of Tuyen Quang Folklore Association collaborated to carry out scientific projects on Tay writing in order to contribute to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of the Tay people.
