Yen Son District has planned agricultural farming towards a commodity production model across three local regions: the upper area of the district focusing on orchard farming with fruits such as pomelos, bananas and seedless persimmons; the ATK (safety zone) developing timber products from planted forests; and the lower area of the district concentrating on growing tea.
Since 2011, local farmers in Trung Truc Commune have invested in expanding concentrated pomelo farming areas. At present, Trung Truc has about 450 hectares of pomelos, 8 times higher than the figure in 2010, with estimated yearly earnings standing at over VND100 million per hectare.

Orchard planning areas working towards commodity farming in the communes of Kien Thiet, Luc Hanh, Phuc Ninh, Chieu Yen and Thang Quan have also brought about greater efficiency. The district’s fruit tree area has reached the set target of over 4,000 hectares.
The district has also made a plan regarding the development of production forests and raw tea areas. Communes in the ATK zone including Trung Minh, Hung Loi, Trung Son, Cong Da and Dao Vien have developed their production forest plans, while raw tea farming is planned for the communes of My Bang, Nhu Khe and Nhu Han.
In addition, Yen Son District has also built a plan for concentrated animal husbandry areas, including separated areas for dairy, beef and pig, as well as aquaculture and apiculture.
Currently, Yen Son is leading the province in terms of its output of pomelos, timber from planted forests and raw tea. It is also one among three districts that contribute most to the province's agricultural production value which ranges from about VND1.5-1.6 trillion per year.
