Following the survey on growing jasmine as a raw material for marinating exported tea in Cap Tien Commune, which was conducted by MTV Tan Kim Bac Company Limited (Son Duong District) in 2018, the local authorities mobilised the local people to convert their croplands into jasmine growing areas. To date, the whole commune has had 3 hectares of jasmine with an expected revenue of over VND1 billion.

From 3 years after planting, jasmine flowers can be harvested from the fourth to tenth lunar month. The flowers are in full bloom in the sixth lunar month. Therefore, people must harvest the budding flowers to marinate tea.
Under the contract which was signed between Tan Kim Bac Company and local households, the purchasing price of jasmine flowers ranges from VND60,000 - VND80,000 per kilogramme. Accordingly, households ensure a clean jasmine growing process, without pesticides or herbicides, and the whole care process is done manually.
In the future, the district’s agricultural sector will continue to assess the effectiveness of jasmine to expand the production area as well as seek more sustainable consumption markets for locals.
