Tien Bo Commune has over 3.400 hectares of forest. The afforestation movement in the commune has been accelerated over the recent years. Since 2015, the whole commune has planted more than 720 hectares of new forests and harvested an estimated volume of wood of 90,156 m3 from 2015 until now with revenue of about VND162.2 billion.
Yen Son District implemented the afforestation project under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards of 2016. Accordingly, Tien Bo Commune has 13 households eligible to participate in the project with a total area of 218 hectares with earnings of about VND150 million per hectare.

Currently, 668 households in the commune have taken part in the model with 1,719 hectares of FSC certified forests. Tien Bo Commune has also cooperated with An Hoa Pulp & Paper Mill Company and Woodsland Tuyen Quang Joint Stock Company to supply materials to the two companies.
In addition to mobilising local people to plant forests under the FSC standards, the commune authorities are also planning to implement a pilot project on granting CoC certificates to finished timber products.
Thanks to the promotion of the forestry economy, the living standards of the local people in Tien Bo Commune have improved with an average income per capita of VND36 million per year. It is considered a key factor for the commune in achieving its goal of building Tien Bo towards being a new-style rural area in 2020.
