Currently, the area of bamboo shoot growing in Na Hang District is about more than 500 hectares, concentrated in communes such as Son Phu, Da Vi, Thuong Nong, Sinh Long, etc.
Son Phu is one of the leading communes in the development of bamboo growing for bamboo shoots as commodity products. Now, the total area of bamboo planted by local people is over 200 hectares, mostly in the villages of Na Mu, Na La, Phia Trang, and Na Con. On average, each hectare of Bat Do bamboo generates 14 tonnes -16 tonnes of bamboo shoots.
In addition to selling fresh bamboo shoots, many households also sell bamboo leaves or cut old bamboo trees to sell for Na Hang Paper Factory as paper materials. As a result, bamboo has become the main income crop for families in the district.
