Local people in Khau Tinh Commune grow fragrant winter melon, bringing economic benefits.
The average income per capita of the commune reaches VND31 million per person per year. In order to raise income and reduce the rate of poor households, the commune has integrated capital from programmes and projects, built production support models, and oriented people to change crop structure accordingly. In 2022, the commune planted 3.5 hectares of fragrant winter melon, 7 hectares of pumpkins, 2 hectares of off-season vegetables, and 6 hectares of peanuts. In addition, the commune has developed 15 hectares of fruit trees including pomelo, plum, persimmon, lemon and orange.
From now until 2023, the commune will continue to plant experimental crops with high economic efficiency such as strawberries, ginseng, etc.
Along with that, Khau Tinh Commune continues to promote the development of livestock production towards commodities. To date, the commune has nearly 40 horses, 584 buffaloes, 98 cows and 2 fish cages with an output of 10 tonnes per year.
The commune has also coordinated with domestic and foreign labour recruitment companies to introduce jobs to local people. Recently, 130 people have worked in industrial parks both inside and outside the province.
With the efforts of the commune authorities and local people, Khau Tinh is expected to reach the new-style rural area by the end of 2023.
