The family of Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong, in Soi Dat village, Xuan Van commune (Yen Son) is renovating land for a grapefruit garden.
To overcome the consequences of the flood and restore agricultural production, localities, functional sectors and people are focusing on reviewing and comprehensively assessing the damage to land, crops and livestock to have appropriate support plans.
After the storm, the Department of Agriculture issued a document guiding localities and people on the management of providing support for plant varieties and organizing production after storm No. 3.
In particular, for the area of land that has been filled up, urgently clean up soil, rocks, trash and crop residues in the fields and gardens, make ditches to dry the soil quickly (if the land is bare, plow and turn it over to expose the soil).
When planting, increase the amount of decomposed manure (or organic microbial fertilizer) by 30 - 50% compared to the normal care process to improve and restore the soil.
Along with that, the Department of Agriculture supports plant varieties, livestock, fertilizers, and pesticides for affected people; encourages people to apply technical farming measures such as loosening the soil, applying organic fertilizers, and planting cover crops to improve soil quality.
Support farmers to switch to sustainable production models that adapt to climate change such as planting short-term crops and fruit trees with high economic value.
Despite many difficulties, the efforts of the entire political system and the people of Tuyen Quang have brought about initial results.
