Vietnam is a tropical country that has developed from agriculture, therefore, bio-technology plays an important role in the industrialization and modernization process, contributing to ensuring food security, restructuring and sustainable development of the agricultural and rural economy.

For example, Vietnam has proactively produced over 70 percent of plants and animals. In which, bio-technology has contributed in the plant varieties improvement and hybridization, helping to increase productivity, quality, and bring high economic efficiency.

Currently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has focused on implementing a number of the key programs on science, technology and innovation in the agriculture sector such as bio-technology development; green agriculture and circular agriculture development; climate change adaptation; digital technology research; the scientific and technological solution application in the new-rural area construction, etc.

In order to enhance the bio-technology application in the agriculture production, sectors and localities should have promotion investment mechanisms and policies, create favorable conditions for businesses and investors in the production linkage with farmers.
