Accelerating citrus fruit tree models in Chiem Hoa District

TQO - In recent years, citrus fruits including oranges, lemons, and grapefruits have been promoted by Chiem Hoa District, continuously increasing in both acreage, yield and value.

The district has planned to develop the orange growing area in the 2014 - 2020 period with a 700-hectare scale. To date, the district has more than 670 hectares of King oranges, concentrated in two communes Trung Ha and Ha Lang.

Trung Ha Commune has 436 hectares of  King oranges, mostly in 6 hamlets. The output of King oranges is estimated more than 7,700 tonnes, revenue is over VND35 billion per year. According to the planning of orange production areas of the province during the 2014 - 2020 period, Trung Ha Commune strives to plant 466 hectares of oranges.

Chiem Hoa District has encouraged people to participate in taking care of oranges meeting the VietGAP and organic standards, creating conditions for farmers to access concessional loans from the Resolution No.10 and 12 of the Provincial People's Council. In addition, the district has also developed King oranges to become featured products of OCOP (One Commune One Product) programme.
