Promoting commodity husbandry in Son Duong District

TQO - Over the past years, Son Duong District has promoted animal husbandry towards a agricultural commodity production model, helping the locals to improve their incomes.

Tran Thi The in Khuc No Hamlet, Dong Tho Commune, Son Duong District taking caring of her family’s cow herds.

Hop Thanh Commune has about 291 buffaloes, 293 cows, 3.564 pigs and 133.920 poultry. The commune have focused on epidemic vaccination for the sustainable development of livestock industry. In addition, the local authorities have communicated and advised households not to increase herds massively to avoid the risk of diseases.

Meanwhile, Tu Thinh Commune has proactively implemented programmes and policies to support production development of the province and district. Up to now, the commune has 6 farms raising chickens and pigs, and 2 concentrated poultry cooperatives in Tan Thang, Dong Thinh and Son Thuy hamlets.

Currently, Son Duong District's the total cattle herd is estimated at approximately 1,670,700 cattle. Besides, the district is home to 75 farms, 7 livestock cooperatives concentrated in Hop Thanh, Tu Thinh, Dong Tho communes.
