Exploring Na Nua Shack in Tan Trao Commune

TQO - Na Nua Shack in Tan Lap Hamlet, Tan Trao Commune, Son Duong District, is the place where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked from late May to August 22, 1945, to prepare for and lead the August General Uprising to seize power across the country.

The shack is situated in Na Nua Forest in the Hong mountain range, with the venue having been directly selected by Uncle Ho. Na Nua Hut is discreetly hidden under the dense trees, ensuring its secret and meeting Uncle Ho’s requirements: adjacent to sources of water and inhabitants, far from highways, and convenient for both attacking and withdrawing.

Built in the style of a stilt house of mountainous people, the shack is made with bamboo walls, the upper part of which features small open spaces to let in light.

The floor is woven from bamboo. In front of the hut’s floor lies a wide and flat stone where Uncle Ho often sat to work and type at night.

From Na Nua Shack, Uncle Ho directed the establishment of a liberated zone consisting of six provinces, namely Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, and Thai Nguyen, as well as the unification of the armed forces into the Liberation Army.
