The problem of urban wastewater collection

TQO - Statistics from the Ministry of Construction show that the whole country currently has 43 centralized urban wastewater treatment plants in operation, the rate of wastewater collected and treated is only about 13%.

In recent years, our province is also one of the localities with rapid urbanization. But like many other localities, investment in urban infrastructure technical systems in general and urban water supply and drainage systems in particular is still limited. The lack of technical infrastructure for wastewater treatment and many inappropriate technological treatment systems have led to a situation where untreated urban wastewater is discharged directly into the environment, threatening the environment and becoming polluted.

Assessing urban wastewater management activities in Vietnam, the World Bank said that although 60% of Vietnamese households connect wastewater to the public drainage system, most Waste is discharged directly into the surface drainage system and only 10% of wastewater is treated. In addition, the ability to recover construction investment costs and operating and maintenance costs of wastewater treatment systems is generally low. In the coming years, Vietnam has a very high need for investment capital, expected to need 8.3 billion USD to provide drainage services for about 36 million urban residents by 2025.

According to experts, investment and management of urban wastewater treatment technical infrastructure in Vietnam is currently facing many challenges from legal policies, capital sources, technology to awareness of peoples. But if you choose a drainage organization chart, wastewater collection and treatment technology, an operating management model, and household connection, you will ensure to offset the costs of operating and maintaining the drainage system, then in the future, this will become an attractive market for organizations and businesses investing in technology.
