Wrestling competition at Tho Vuc Communal House attracts a large number of people and tourists.
At the traditional festival of Tho Vuc communal house, Hong Lac commune (Son Duong), in addition to the offering ritual, the festival will include folk games and ethnic sports competitions, attracting people and tourists. The most impressive and dramatic is the wrestling competition. The wrestling hall is an empty field in front of the communal house. The villagers and tourists stand around and cheer. The chants like: "raise up", "take it down", "get out the circle", make the competition more interesting.
Vice Chairman of Hong Lac Commune People's Committee (Son Duong) Vu Van Quyet said that in each festival of the commune, it is indispensable to organize ethnic sports. This is a form of promoting the movement of physical training and sports, meeting the needs of improving the spiritual life of local people as well as preserving the cultural identity of the ethnic groups.
"When i visit Tuyen Quang and participate in early spring festivals, i am very exciting because i can witness the traditional sports competition. I really like watching the stick pushing competition", Tran Van Ban from Quan Hoa ward, Cau Giay district (Hanoi) shared.
When competing in ethnic sports, the athletes represent for villages and communes to take part in the contest, contributing to promoting the spirit of solidarity and cohesion of people in the community.
Ha Thi Nghiep in Bao Ninh village, Yen Nguyen commune (Chiem Hoa) is more than 70 years old this year, but each needle and thread are still very skillful. She shared, every New Year, she and the women in the village also make hundreds of 'con' (cloth ball) to prepare for the spring festival. These 'con' will be given to tourists and people when participating in the 'con' throwing competition at the Long Tong Festival of the district.
Tuyen Quang has 22 ethnic groups and each ethnic group has its own unique culture and favorite sport. However, the ethnic minorities still preserve and develop their own characteristic sports in daily life.
