Women in Thien Ke Commune, Son Duong District instructed members of Vat Chanh Hamlet to grow cucumbers.
Since 2016, Son Duong District has supported loan interest rates for 268 poor and near-poor households to develop husbandry in association with building biogas tanks with a budget of over VND2.5 billion according to the support capital of the Provincial People's Committee. The district has also assisted 482 poor and near-poor households to borrow loans to support production and business with a total cost of over VND22 billion.
The District People's Committee has directed specialised agencies and units to promote extension activities in agriculture, forestry and fishery and supported 57,776 local people participate in project of production development.
In addition, the district has focused on health support policies for poor households such as issuing health insurance cards for ethnic minorities in upland areas. Therefore, 32,075 poor households have been examined and treated with health insurance cards with the cost of over VND6 billion. The district also supported 336 poor ethnic minority women to give birth under the right policy, and built 4 concentrated water supply works in the locality.
By the end of 2020, the district has 3,331 poor households, accounting for 6.66%. The number of near-poor households is 5,853, accounting for 11.71%.
