Improving Mong ethnic minority people’s living standard

TQO - The living standard of the Mong ethnic minority people in Tuyen Quang Province has been improved significantly over recent years thanks to the State’s attention and the renewal of the locals’ mindset in economic development.

Over the past 20 years, the province has invested in 527 construction projects worth total VND295 billion for the Mong people, including 230 roads, 31 medical stations, 195 schools, 10 electricial installations and 61 others serving their lives and production.

Kien Thiet Commune (Yen Son District) has more than 400 Mong housholds. During the 2016 – 2019 period, the local people were provided with 61 banana slicing machines for animal husbandry. In addition, a school was built at a cost of VND800 million and a cultural house was also constructed.

Annually, on average over 130 households in the commune move out of poverty, of which Mong families account for one third. A large number of Mong families have built solid houses and bought trucks to transport agricultural products.

The State and provincial authorities have also invested in lots of projects for the Mong ethnic people in Yen Lam Commune (Ham Yen District), such as lighting systems, rural concrete roads, schools and the commune’s central market.

In other hamlets like Ngoi Sen, Quang Tan and Thai Khao, Mong people have accelerated thier local advantage in afforestation, fruit tree growing and animal husbandry. As a result, their income has risen, assuring their lives prosper and grow.

Thanks to the State’s support, Mong people in Tuyen Quang Province have proactively boosted their production, significantly contributing to the locality’s socio-economic development.
