Folk games of ethnic minorities in Tuyen Quang

TQO - There are 22 ethnic groups living across Tuyen Quang Province. Ethnic groups have still preserved many unique traditional cultural identities, especially a treasure of folk games.

Children enjoy the swing in Phieng Bung Forest Park, Na Hang District.

Folk games play an important role in life, contributing to educating people about collectivity, discipline, physical training, strength, and endurance.

Some popular games such as Con (cloth ball) throwing, stick pushing, blindfolded pot smashing, seesaw, and slides are held on special occasions to strengthen community solidary. These games attract a large number of local people and tourists to participate.

Typically, the Con throwing game is a collective activity and held in a large space with unlimited players. With the meaning of praying for favourable weather conditions, bumper crops, and good luck, many Tay villages in Tuyen Quang usually organise this game during Tet holiday.

Currently, traditional practices and folk games of ethnic minority groups have been reproduced at some community-based tourism attractions in the locality in order to draw visitors' attention.
