Local people in Tan Quang preserve Dao folk songs

TQO - Nearly 100% of the Red Dao ethnic people reside in Tan Quang Hamlet, Hoang Khai Commune, Yen Son District. The Dao group living there preserve not only their traditional costumes, language and writing, but also the unique folk songs in daily life.

The folk songs of the Red Dao people originate from their own activities of labour and production.

The folk songs of the Red Dao people are diverse and rich. These songs reflect activities, customs, practices, rituals and wishes of the Dao people in life.

Today, folk songs in daily life is a type of singing that plays a leading role in the treasure of Dao folk songs, including love songs, lullabies, etc.

In particular, the folk songs used in weddings, ceremonies, vegetarian ceremonies, and Ban Vuong worshiping have been preserved by the Dao.

Some elderly people in the hamlet are collecting and composing more songs to enrich the folk music treasure. New products are released all coming from reality such as building a new countryside, preserving national identities, and uniting to build cultural life in residential areas.
