Yen Son District develops its pomelo production area

TQO - The over-4000-hectare commodity pomelo farming area in Yen Son District has opened up the opportunity for many households in the locality to increase their incomes substantially.

The commodity pomelo production areas are concentrated in the of Xuan Van, Phuc Ninh, Luc Hanh, Thang Quan and other communes in the district. Pomelo trees have brought a relatively high economic value to the people. Many households in the locality have escaped poverty, becoming typical examples of the movement of good farmers doing business.

Growing pomelo brings high incomes for people in Phuc Ninh Commune, Yen Son District.

Yen Son District has planned pomelo growing areas. The local authorities have only allowed people to expand their production area to a limit of 5,000 hectares also closely monitoring so as not to let supply exceed demand, which would affect the locals' lives.

In addition, the district has also worked with communes to promote the role of agroforestry cooperatives in connecting product consumption for people. Of which, pomelo products from the district have been sold in many markets inside and outside the province such as Hanoi, Phu Tho, Hung Yen, and Hai Phong. According to the agricultural cooperatives, this year’s pomelo prices are stable, ranging from VND12,000 to VND25,000 per Kg.
