The 3.5-hectare cucumber growing model was successfully tested in the two communes of Vinh Loi and Van Phu in November 2019. In the spring crop of 2020, the district had expanded its 19.7 hectares of cucumber growing area across the six communes of Vinh Loi, Thuong Am, Tu Thinh, Van Phu, Tan Trao and Trung Yen. This entire area is being harvested, expected average output is more than 50 tonnes per hectare.

After nearly one year, the model has initially brought about a good level of efficiency. Average output is estimated at more than 50 tonnes per hectare. Selling prices are stable at VND5,000 per kilogramme. Average revenue has reached over VND250 million per production cycle (three months) per hectare.
The cucumber growing model in the district is linked to planting and consuming products from Minh Tam Poultry Breeding Cooperative in coordination with the An Hoa Agricultural Service Cooperative.
In the winter crop of 2020, the district has expanded its cucumber growing area to 45 hectares, with the participation of more than 100 households. The district is striving to expand the cucumber area to 150 hectares in the near future.
