Promoting forestry economic development in Tan An Commune

TQO - Taking advantage of both the natural conditions and the large area of forestry, Tan An Commune (Chiem Hoa District) has steadily promoted its forestry-based economic development.

Tan An commune has 4,490 ha of forested land, including over 1,300 hectares of natural forest and more than 1,400 hectares of planted forests for production and forest land under MTV Chiem Hoa Forestry Company Limited.

Over the past five years, Tan An Commune has newly planted over 380 hectares of forest, reaching 109% of its plan, increasing the forest coverage rate to 60%. The total volume of exploited wood is estimated at 25,590 cubic metres and 1,370 tonnes for making paper materials.

There are five wood processing facilities in the commune that consume more than 100 cubic metres of wood per day for people in the commune and neighboring communes.

Currently, all forested area joint ventures with MTV Chiem Hoa Forestry Company Limited have been granted international forest certificates (FSC). The largely wood intensive afforestation models of the company have been implemented in the commune to communicate and instruct people to plant forestry on a large scale.
