Thanks to the establishment of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant, a national key project in 2017, Soi Ha Hamlet did not suffer the frequent floods, facilitating the farmers' stable production. Therefore, local people boldly planted Soi Ha pomelo trees in the lower alluvial ground. With the rich nutrition of the soil, the plants grew strongly.
In general, Soi Ha pomelo is not as picky about soil as green skin pomelo. This variety develops best in alluvial regions where is mineral soil. Through vision and taste sensation, the pomelo fruits grown in Soi Ha Hamlet are large and round. When ripen, its skin turns from green into yellow while the taste is cool, succulent and sweet.

Two basic techniques frequently applied in growing Soi Ha pomelo are layering and transplanting. It takes more than 6 years for the trees to bear fruits. Due to the wide canopy, each tree must be planted about 8m - 10m apart.
Up to now, 100% of households in the hamlet grows Soi Ha pomelo, making this region become a largest Soi Ha pomelo specialised cultivation area in Xuan Van Commune as well as Yen Son District.
Now, there are few of poor households in Soi Ha Hamlet. The average income of the local people is estimated at nearly VND40 million per person per year. There are many families have a regular annual income of VND300 million - VND500 million from planting pomelo.
Currently, Tuyen Quang Province has a total area of over 5,000 hectares for planting pomelos, of which the upper riverside communes of Yen Son District accounts for 4,000 hectares of pomelo growing area with the majority of Soi Ha pomelo variety.
Soi Ha pomelo harvesting season is also on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival, so the consumption of pomelo results quite positive.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Van Commune Le Hong Viet said that with a such great potential of Soi Ha pomelo, the commune has identified to accelerate pomelo production, in which focusing on growing Soi Ha pomelo, a local variety plant, as a key crop.
In addition, Yen Son District will develop geographical indication and trademarks for Soi Ha pomelo in the coming time, contributing to helping farmers consume this product both inside and outside the province.
