The knitting industry provides an additional source of income for about 50 households in Hung My Commune. After the Covid-19 epidemic, local people have resumed their production activities to ensure their incomes.
During the Covid-19 outbreak, thorn leaf cake-making facilities in Vinh Loc Town have been brought to a halt in order to conduct maintenance on their machines. In addition, they have advertised and introduced their thorn leaf cake products on social networks to seek more markets for their products.
Local people in Bo Cung Hamlet, Kim Binh Commune, Chiem Hoa District, preserve their traditional bamboo knitting craft.
In order to avoid dependence on foreign markets amidst the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, wood processing facilities have poured greater investment into processing lines to have their products meet the requirements of paper mill companies. As a result, the facilities have retained normal operation, creating regular jobs for local employees.
The majority of the handicraft industries in the district have not been affected much by the Covid-19 pandemic because most of them are operating on a small scale while their products are either consumed in the locality or the domestic market. To date, several traditional crafts have been brought back to normal operation, such as knitting, wood processing, and mechanical processing.
Currently, Chiem Hoa District is cooperating with banks to adjust the debt repayment deadline for business households and local enterprises in order to create favourable conditions for them to recover production.
