After selling all porkers, many families in Thai Binh Commune (Yen Son District) have cleaned and sprayed disinfectants at pig sties and then separate their herds. Once piglets are separated from their mothers, they are injected with many kinds of vaccines in order to facilitate disease prevention. The farmers have also paid much attention to the pigs diets to help increase their resistance.

Since February, 7,000 pigs have been raised for breeding at local farms in 3 districts of Son Duong, Yen Son and Chiem Hoa. Currently, the total number of pigs including sows, porkers and piglets is about 547,000.
The province’s pork output is rising. In April, the output of pork reached over 4,000 tonnes, up 0.1% over the previous month. It is estimated that from now until July, there will be about 1,000-2,000 additional breeding pigs raised.
Many farms in the locality are promoting re-investment in animal husbandry. In addition, people still have to strictly implement epidemic prevention and control measures, especially for African swine fever.
