TQO - Thanks to the fertile alluvial soil, Soi Sinh alluvial ground in the middle of the Lo stream contributes to the development of mulberry farming and silkworm raising of local people in Hamlet 10, Tan Long Commune (Yen Son).

The mulberry farming and silkworm raising craft appeared in Tan Long in 1997, but mainly concentrated in Hamlet 10. The fertile alluvial soil along the Lo River along with a suitable climate created favorable conditions for mulberry trees to grow well, providing an abundant food source for the silkworm raising.

Up to now, many households in the locality have a good income based on growing mulberry and raising silkworms. On average, each month, 2-3 silkworm litters with an output of 70kg -100 kg of cocoons will give an income of VND15 million - VND30 million for farmers.

The silkworm farming project under the production value linkage chain associated with product consumption in Tan Long Commune with a support budget of over VND2 billion has opened a new direction for mulberry growers. From the support capital, many households have been able to visit and learn mulberry growing techniques as well as be supported with seedlings, fertilizers, and materials, etc.

In order to create favorable conditions for people to develop mulberry farming and silkworm raising craft in association with new rural construction, the People's Committee of Tan Long Commune has planned a concentrated mulberry-growing area and established cooperatives, promoting to build a brand for the product. Thereby helping to create jobs and stabilize incomes for farmers.
