Local people in Na Luoc Hamlet, Phu Luu Commune growing lemon trees with high economic efficiency, helping farmers escape poverty.
In 2015, Minh Dan Commune was still one of the communes with a relatively high poverty ratio in Ham Yen District with the rate of 46%. However, Minh Dan Commune has made a breakthrough to become one of 6 communes of the district to complete the criteria of building new-style rural areas. After 5 years of implementing poverty reduction solutions, Minh Dan Commune has 9.6% of poor households.
Hung Duc Commune is one of the localities with forest economic development strength. The commune has implemented forest certification according to FSC standards. During the implementation process, over 2.400 hectares of forest have been registered by local people. Thereby, local people in the commune pay more attention to the development of the forest economy, making an important contribution to the local poverty reduction.
In the 2016-2020 period, Ham Yen District has exceeded the target of poverty reduction. Accordingly, the whole district had nearly 10,000 poor households in 2016, accounting for 33.44%, but the district reduced to 3,747 poor households, accounting for 11.74% in 2020.
In the 2021 - 2025 period, Ham Yen District strives to reduce the annual average rate of poor households by more than 3% and become the first district in Tuyen Quang Province recognised as new-styled rural areas by 2025.
