Thai Son Commune strives to complete the criteria of building new-style rural area in 2021. The key task of the commune is to encourage local people to expand production activities. The commune authorities have planned specialised and concentrated agricultural production areas such as orange area with 126 hectares, 60-hectare tea area, 20 hectares of agricultural region according to VietGAP standards, organic vegetable area, and medicinal plant area, etc. In addition, the commune has promoted the cooperative economy development. The commune has 7 cooperatives and 11 farms operating in the fields of animal husbandry and cultivation, creating commodity products in order to meet the market requirements.
Mr. Hoang Van Len in Minh Thai 1 Hamlet, Thai Son Commune, Ham Yen District earning over VDN150 million per year thanks to growing red flesh dragon fruit.
In 2020, the average per capita income of Thai Son Commune reached VND36 million per person per year while the poverty ratio decreased to 5.29%. The number of local workers with regular jobs reached 90%. The commune strives to raise the income per capita to VND40 million per person per year by the end of 2021. These results help Thai Son Commune create solid foundation for complete the criteria of building new-style rural area in 2021 and receiving fifth-grade urban area by 2025.
Nhan Muc Commune has identified income as the most important criterion for sustainable new rural area construction. The commune has communicated and mobilised local people to change the structure of crops and livestock, and apply apply scientific and technological advances in production. By the end of 2020, the average per capita income of the commune was nearly VND30.22 million per person per year. The commune was recognised as new-style rural area in 2021.
To date, Ham Yen District has 9 out of 17 communes meeting income criteria. The district has proposed groups of specific solutions to effectively implement the breakthrough in commodity agriculture by issuing supporting policies on infrastructure, land planning, and trade promotion to create more favorable conditions for farmers in development of production. The district has expanded intensive cultivation areas, including orange tree growing regions with 7,269 hectares in 13 communes and town and tea planting areas with 2,133 hectares. Besides, the district has promoted the development of cooperatives to raise cows and Minh Huong fat ducks as well as increase the value of planted forest timber in association with forest product processing.
Along with agricultural production, the district has also encouraged enterprises to invest in the fields of commerce, industry - handicrafts in the area. Up to now, the district has attracted a number of large projects, creating jobs for over 2,000 workers.
In 2020, the district's per capita income reached VND31.4 million VND per person per year. The district's poverty ratio in 2020 decreased to 12.04%. These remarkable results is a premise for Ham Yen District to make a breakthrough, reaching the province's first new-style rural district by 2025.
