The commune authorities have also communicated and mobilised residents to implement mechanisms and policies of the Provincial People's Council on supporting high-quality forest tree varieties. Currently, the whole commune has over 44 hectares of forest supported with high quality seedlings according to Resolution No. 03 of the 18th Provincial People's Council.
In addition, since 2008, the "Environmental Forest" project, supported by Japan, implemented in two hamlets of Ngoi Sen and Quang Tan with 215 hectares has brought positive efficiency. The beneficiaries of this project are mainly Mong people. This entire area has been exploited for the first time and is about to be exploited for the second time. The project has also significantly contributed to improving the living standards of people in the two hamlets.
Local people's economy has gradually developed thanks to afforestation. The commune's poverty ratio in 2016 was 37%, but it was only 12.39% by the end of 2020.
Over the years, Ham Yen District and Yen Lam Commune have also focused on investing in building a road system in order to improve the forest economic values. Up to now, the route of DH06, 12 with a total length of 27km has been concreted 24km. The road to the commune centre with 7km has been 100% concreted while the road route to the production area has been concreted 12km, reaching 70%.
Along with raising cattle and planting fruit trees, growing forest in Yen Lam is one of the three strengths to promote the available advantages of the commune, helping local people get rich in their homeland.
