The effectiveness of planting forests for production has changed the lives of local people. Currently, two thirds of the households in the commune are Dao people doing forestry-related jobs.
Over 95% of the Red Dao people in Tan Thuong Hamlet have made a breakthrough in their economic development in recent years. The hamlet is currently home to 300 hectares of production forestry. Each household in the locality has between 2-7 hectares of planted forestry.

Khuan Man is considered the “capital” of sugarcane in Luong Thien Commune as the whole hamlet has over 80 hectares of sugarcane with an average yield of 70-80 tonnes per hectare. Local people have recently planted Sacha Inchi trees, with a selling price of VND60,000 per kilogram.
It can be said that the lives of the Dao people in Khuon Tam Hamlet have entered a new era since the development of the forestry economy combined with animal husbandry. More than 50% of households in the hamlet have an annual income of over VND100 million a year. There only remains 10 poor households there. The economy of 50 households across the commune is based on developing more than 610 hectares of forest and raising buffaloes, cows, goats and pigs.
Thanks to the policy of the State and local authorities, the Dao people in Luong Thien Commune have devised effective ways to develop production, bringing about a more prosperous life. Currently, 50% of Dao households have houses which were built solidly.
