Nguyen Van Long takes care of chickens.
Long shared, the closed loop farm model is really an effective model, helping farmers save a lot of costs and time. He and his family have planned a farm to raise buffaloes, cows, and chickens in combination with utilizing organic waste from livestock to make vermicompost, taking manure to fertilize fruit trees and using the earthworm to feed for chickens. In which, he chose to raise chickens in the garden as the key to developing the family's economy.
His family's farm of nearly 8 hectares is located far from residential areas, but now has a complete 3-phase electrical system installed, while the road to the production area has been concreted.
With a progressive thinking, he boldly invested nearly VND800 million to expand 2 more chicken farms with a total scale of 6,000 chickens per litter. He also built another cattle and buffalo farm with an area of 600 m2, spending nearly 2 hectares of hilly land to grow elephant grass for fattening buffaloes and breeding cows.
Currently, his family is maintaining 10 breeding cows and 16 fattening buffaloes. His annual income from calves exported to the market is about VND120 million. With 3 naturally grazed chicken farms with a scale of 2,000 chickens per farm, each year, he earns over VND600 million.
Thanks to the abundant nutrients from vermicompost, his orchards (including grapefruit, oranges, lemons) flourished. Last year, his family's orange garden began to harvest the first batch with an output of nearly 20 tons, earning a profit of nearly VND100 million.
In the coming time, he continues to improve the quality of livestock production and expand the consumption market.
