Agriculture sees drastic changes

TQO - After many years of small scale and scattered agricultural production, concentrated specialised production areas have been established while sustainable links between farmers and enterprises have become tighter.

Ham Yen king oranges were honoured as the Vietnam Gold Farming Brand in 2019, for the second time. Orange farming areas in the whole of TuyenQuang province reach over 8,600ha in total, including 772ha meeting VietGAP standards and 33ha of organic farming, with a total output of over 90,000 tonnes. The orange production value accounts for 24.7% of the province's total crop production value. Many localities are currently promoting citrus fruits as major crops. The province also has over 3,600ha of pomelos, concentrating mainly in Yen Son district.

The province now has 42 brands of agricultural products. Many types of agricultural products continue to affirm their brands and dominate the domestic market and export markets. A number of products have been exported to foreign countries, including dried tea exported to Russia, Pakistan, Taiwan (China) and some European countries; timber exported to Europe; and sugar, peanuts, and bananas exported through unofficial channels to the Chinese market.

To help the local agricultural production catch up with the current trend, TuyenQuang has renewed the three pillars of the government, enterprises and farmers.  It takes scientific advancement, particularly technology 4.0, as a lever for agricultural production while getting access to standards of advanced countries to be capable of competing in the international market.
