Dong Van, a peaceful highland commune in Tuyen Quang Province, is not only renowned for its majestic rocky mountains but also for preserving a unique traditional handicraft: the hemp weaving craft of the H’mong ethnic people.
Peach blossoms in Lo Lo Chai bloomed early from the beginning of November, giving the border village a strange, springlike beauty. This phenomenon coincided with the village being honored by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as the “World’s Best Tourist Village 2025,” leading to a surge in visitors. Many homestays reported that room occupancy had already reached high levels by the end of October.
In Tung Ba commune, the craft of making dried vermicelli has been revived and flourished, largely thanks to Tay women. In Hong Minh hamlet, a vermicelli-making cooperative with eight members, led by Mrs. Nong Thi Thuyet, has been established to preserve and promote this traditional craft.
Harnessing the cool, year-round headwater streams at elevations from 800 to over 1,000 meters above sea level, nearly 90% of households in Nam An hamlet, Tan Quang commune, have embraced sturgeon farming, transforming mountain mist and forest streams into a sustainable livelihood and a pathway to a brighter future for the highland community.
