Peaceful beauty of Tha Village

Tha Village, located in Ha Giang 1 Ward, has emerged as a standout destination for community-based tourism while preserving the cultural identity of the Tay ethnic minority. Home to more than 130 households and over 600 residents, 99% of whom are Tay people, the village has maintained its traditional lifestyle and tranquil atmosphere despite being situated not far from the ward center.

Recognized as a New Rural Village in 2019, Tha Village has become a model for combining cultural preservation with sustainable tourism development. The village currently features 122 stilt houses, more than 90% of which retain the traditional Tay architectural style, characterized by palm-leaf roofs, sturdy wooden frames, and distinctive living spaces. These well-preserved houses, set amid picturesque mountain scenery, create a unique cultural landscape that attracts visitors from across the country.

In recent years, community-based tourism has brought new opportunities for local residents. Traditional stilt houses have been transformed into homestays, allowing visitors to experience the daily life, cuisine, and customs of the Tay community. Despite the growth of tourism, the village has successfully preserved its authentic character, maintaining a harmonious balance between development and cultural conservation.

Since the beginning of 2026, Tha Village has welcomed more than 10,000 visitors, reflecting the increasing appeal of its tourism model. Tourism activities have helped improve local livelihoods, with many households investing in accommodation and food services, generating additional income and creating jobs within the community.

A key attraction of Tha Village is the opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in traditional Tay culture. Guests can participate in farming activities, weaving, preparing local dishes, and enjoying folk performances. Traditional Then singing and the sound of the Tinh lute, echoing through the mountainous landscape, provide memorable cultural experiences for tourists.

Alongside cultural preservation, local authorities and residents have focused on developing tourism sustainably. Community-based tourism services have been professionally organized while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere, thereby contributing to local economic growth.

With its peaceful setting, traditional stilt houses, rich cultural heritage, and breathtaking natural scenery, Tha Village is gradually establishing itself as a model tourism village. Its gentle beauty, mist-covered landscapes, lush forests, and hospitable people continue to leave lasting impressions on visitors exploring Tuyen Quang Province.

Recently, the Community-Based Cultural Tourism Village was honored in the category of Outstanding Community Tourism Destination, recognizing its success in attracting large numbers of visitors in 2025.
